With an academic background in architecture and urban design, Stephen Jaycox has pursued a design career with broad interdisciplinary interests expressed through projects that range from the scale of the city down to the scale of a book. This work, conventionally defined, includes: urban planning, architectural design, brand environment design, identity and market positioning, advertising, media and social media platform design involving work on more than 200 projects for clients globally in North America, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Finland. This work has received awards from The Art Director’s Club (New York), the American Association of Museums and I.D. Magazine; and has been widely covered by the press, including Time, Newsweek, CNN, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, International Herald-Tribune, Le Monde and Le Figaro.
In the Fall of 2016, Stephen was invited to be a Visiting Artist/Scholar at the American Academy in Rome where he started new work that explores the intersection of cultural memory, political will and an artist’s intention to signal dissent in a specific artifact of cinquecento Rome. The work will be published in 2024.
